Love these podcasts. I always learn something from them and look forward to the next one. Throwing in my 2 cents on the competition vs tactical argument. I am personally tactical in my mindset, but find the competition connection rather unarguable. Tactics come down to getting lead on target quickly and accurately before receiving damage and competition adds some pressure to do just that. Get that round on target and do it now. Partial targets and distance are real factors. Yes I know all about statistics when it comes to the average gun fight, being the average is 3 rounds in 3 seconds and is within the length of a car, but the fact of the matter is that body armor is more readily available and being used more often than ever before. Combine that with the fact that explosives are being utilized more and more, you better be dam accurate while under pressure and at greater distances. So far I’ve only done local matches, specifically the Defensive Pistol league and it has helped me improve my shooting tremendously. I try to get as many people as I can to try some local level matches. I can guarantee it will improve your skill set and as a bonus, it’s rather fun. One of these days I will enter a real match.
